‘My illustrations are largely decorative, and full of nature’s narratives. I love that an image can affect emotions, and I seek to bring joy and pleasure to all who buy my artwork.’

About

Black and White photo of artist Bryony Halsted with a mug of tea.

Bryony trained as an Illustrator with printmaking at Wolverhampton University (2000), and later completed an MA in Visual Communication at Birmingham City University (2007).

Since then, she has continued to experiment and explore through making and learning and discovered a passion for surface pattern design when she took Make it in Design and Make Art that Sells on-line courses, which honed her skillset in this area.

This surface pattern training means a proficiency in making repeat patterns as well as placement prints.

Bryony regularly uses Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop when creating artwork, but her signature style relies upon her ability to use traditional drawing, collage and painting methods when creating.

Client work ranges from projects as diverse as children’s book illustrations for the ‘The Tatty Shawl Cottage’ series to packaging and illustration work for hot new nursery brand Popsidaisickle, and most recently, botanical illustrations for Family Doctor’s products . Bryony’s client list includes NSPCC, Medici cards, British Heart Foundation and Water Aid.
